It means options are offered and hypnotherapy is more effective without directly telling someone what to do.
Imagine walking behind the scenes at a hypnosis show. The hypnotist entertainer screens 200 people from a stadium of over 1000 through a series of tests and elimination strategies, eventually narrowing it down to one person who is most likely to comply. Often, the selected individuals are not even hypnotized; they are part of the show. Sometimes, the hypnotist gets them to act like chickens or engage in other funny activities. The selected participants are often pressured by the crowd of thousands to perform, and they usually have a lot of fun. When the show is over, they receive some sort of gift, and the crowd is grateful for their participation.
